Record quantum entanglement of multiple dimensions

An international team directed by researchers from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, with participation from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, has managed to create an entanglement of 103 dimensions with only two photons. The record had been established at 11 dimensions.

Link between Insecticides and Collapse of Honey Bee colonies Strengthened.....

Two widely used neonicotinoids -- a class of insecticide -- appear to significantly harm honey bee colonies over the winter, particularly during colder winters, according to researchers. The study replicated a 2012 finding from the same research group that found a link between imidacloprid and Colony Collapse Disorder, in which bees abandon their hives over the winter and eventually die. The new study found low doses of a second neonicotinoid, clothianidin, had the same negative effect.

Creating Hawking Radiation in the Lab

(Synopsis)
The Quantum Mechanical mechanism involving Hawking Radiation may be testable in a laboratory environment...as conventional knowledge now stands, black holes can be detected throughout the observable universe through X-ray emitence, stemming from black holes, as well as techniques in astronomy involving gravitational lensing; however, 'upclose' investigation of black holes, as well as experiments involving 'utilizing' the effects of black holes cannot be accomplished with today's technology...

Artificial experimental 'analogues' can be used, to mimic the activities of black holes, or at least, exemplify some fundamental, yet partial aspect of black holes....Scientists may have come up with a way of deploying Hawking's famous astrophysical phenomenon with the use of one type of analogue....[Nick]
